How to trick-out a T-100

What's up everybody. I'm brand new to the site, but I'm looking forward to using it to learn more about how to improve my trucks performance and hear about what some other people all doing with theirs. There is still a lot I could learn about working on my truck, but I know the basics. Just don't ask me to change the gearing on it or anything like that. I'll have a shop take care of anything like that.

I do like to understand what's goin on with my truck though and what's available.

I would love to hear from anyone with a T-100 what they've done with their truck and how they like the results.

Right now I've basically got a stock '97 T-100 with a Pro Comp Explorer Susp. Lift, BFG tires, and Eagle Alloy 8-hole rims. I'm open to getting rid of the rims if anyone is interested. I would love to get a little more power out of my truck. Any ideas how I should do this would be welcome.

The next thing I really want to do with my truck is to add headers and exhaust. I think that will give me the best increase in power. Then I might put on a cold air intake. I also might send me computer into JET to have it tuned. I WISH THERE WAS AN ENGINE-MANAGEMENT unit available for the T-100, but I don't think there is.

I was talking to a guy at Downey Off-Road today about wanting to get limited slip rear differential. Apparently it is available. I'M STOKED. It's not really that expensive either. The rear end on the T-100 is the same as the one on the Tundra, Tacoma, and maybe a couple others.

If I were to do two performance upgrades to my truck I think it would be headers/exhaust and limited slip.

Tell me about your T-100 or your Yota, what ya want to do with it, what you think about what I want to do with mine, etc. I'd love to hear about it. Peace out.

I was planning on doing the procomp many moons ago for mine and decided against it. Lift as much as you need and only that and I decided to go a different route..

I decided to only lift and overall of 3.5". This is done by getting balljoint spacers up front that lift it 1.5" and allow for much more travel on the frontend. The rear will be getting a leafpack that raises it 1.5" to match the front. Then I am gonna install a performance accesseries body lift (or possibly a vender on this sites kit) for 1-2" (undecided atm). This gives me enough room to stuff some 33's (posibly 34 or 35's?) if I want to while still keeping the overall truck minimally lifted. The shocks I plan to use are bilstein HD or 5125's (undecided) for the truck.

Thats it in a nutshell.. FYI 96 x-cab 3.4L V6 T100 Auto.

As far as yours is concerned, if you have the blocks in the leafpacks-get rid of them NOW. The T-100 has the worst axlewrap (look it up) of any yota pick up by far and those blocks may cause your rear to blow apart. I would look into alcan or similar leafpacks and some longer shackles to raise it to the proper levels. If you dont you maybe sorry later on

As for performance, JBA headers, free'er flowing exhaust using a magnaflow, flowmaster or borla muffler. Next in your case i would do the deckplate mod-bit more complicated for us to do it-but it works and will easily outdo a whole intake kit from airaid for 100+ dollars for about an hours worth of your time and a 10 dollar deckplate.

Sending your computer to JET-dont knowif its really worth it, the T100 needs a v8 really and it never got one unfortunetly. You could see what they offer, but if you want real power a supercharger, fuel addons, and such will give you 300hp easy-at the cost of about 4k worth of parts and goodies providing you do your own work.

Ditch your procomp shocks if your usng them and try and find anything else that will fit (skyjacker, trailmaster) unless you bought the upgraded procomp shocks the ones they offer with the lift kit are junk.

As for the rearend, if you want more traction an LSD will help but a locker such as the eaton powertraxx will work 100x better and work on the road fine. If you plan on pavement pounding the truck dont even bother.

Looks like you got a good start on your T100. My truck has the stock suspension with new leafs in the rear (old ones broke), Monroe shocks, 17in. sequoia wheels with 265/70 mickey thompsons, K&N filter custom exhaust using highflow cat, single in dual out magnaflow muffler, a big honkin truck cap (dont diss it, my bed looks new on the inside ha ha), and thats about it. looking into a lift and engine swap but these are dreams. funning thing about college is that you have to pay for it Have you got any pics. of your truck? Ditto on the axlewrap problem CJM mentioned. probably part of the reason why my rear end cracked. headers are a nice addittion as well as exhaust. luckily you have the 3.4L so a supercharger is definietly avaliable for your truck. I do not have that option with the older 3.0. ignore the spelling errors. I suck at spelling and typing. here's a pic of my truck. Hopefully BJ spacers and new clutch will be coming soon.
