5vz-fe motor swap

5vz-fe motor swap
Hey all!
I have a 96 t100 with 316k that needs a new 5vz-fe 3.4L motor. I have one sourced and I’m looking for advice on the following
1) is it easier or even possible to pull the transmission and engine together? I’ve heard this recommended on other posts for this truck’s engine swap but never seen a post from someone actually doing it this way.
I have a manual transmission and will be doing the clutch. Thinking this could be easier and so would aligning the new engine with the transmission out and prior to installation of the new engine.
2) Will a 2000 Tacoma 3.4L 5vz-fe motor WIRING HARNESS fit my existing ecu? If not, is it feasible to replace with a Tacoma ecu?
Thanks in advance.

You’ll get arguments both ways on whether or not to pull the engine and tranny together.
personally, I don’t find it any easier to align them out of the vehicle than in, so I just pull the engine alone which that saves me having to disconnect the shifters, drive shaft and transmission crossmember.
Does your T100 already have a 3.4 in it? If so the harness should plug and play as long as the donor was the same (4x4, manual trans, etc.). If not you’ll need the donor ECU as well.
