4WD Problem
I have a 97 t100 with the 3.4 v6, so the other day I was driving down a trail and since it had been raining it was kinda muddy and to make story short I got stuck out in the middle of no where tryed engaging my 4wd drive and it didn't work. My indicator light doesn't come on, but I kmo my transfer case is working because the shaft that run from the transfer case to the front diff, does spin, what could be cause my axles not to engage?

If your still running a factory ADD system, the fact that the light isn't turning on means that the actuator on the front diff is not engaging. Try engaging the 4wd, then tapping on the actuator on the front diff lightly with a hammer.

hi, i recently just ran into this problem with T...i tapped it with a hammer lightly for a minute or two and still nothing....know ive been doing research and if you switch the lines around somehow, you will get 4wd back, but you will have to manually do it each time. another thing i've found is that the problem behind it is either three things.
1. the actuator being stuck 2. the VSV being bad (which is extremely expensive) 3. the two vacuum switches in the right inner fender on top towards the windshield washer resorvoir. if you can narrow it down to one of the three, you will be back up and running...still trying to figure out which one is wrong with mine...with my luck the one which is most expensive probably, but id figure id help out another T owner!
