Too my 95 T100 4+4 to a look local oil can Henrys, they put 5.7 QTS, of oil in, only suppose to be 5. About 20 miles into new oil change I felt the trucks idle dropping and take off and driving is very sluggish, like after going thru some deep water and gets in the exhaust, any advice or knowledge, experience would be helpful..

Seems unlikely that a fairly small overfill would cause your symptoms, but easy to find out.

Get a drain pan and box-end wrench, crawl under there and drain a quart out.

Tell us if the symptoms improve/ change. I bet they don't.

If your symptoms are real, something else is going on.

What engine? Where does the oil measure on the dip stick? Hopefully, they put the plug in and filled it as you expected.

The 3.4L 5vz-fe in a 4WD model is 5.5 qts. with a new filter. If this is what you have you may be only 6oz or so over. Not likely, IMHO, to cause a performance issue.

Thanks, it just seems odd all of a sudden my truck starts running g this way after the oil change, gonna have it towed to my mechanic, I would drain it but I feel to have a second opinion espe ially if it is something not caused from the oil change. I'll share the diagnosis when I know.

Thanks for the reply,, engine is 4.3l, v6,, oil on dipstick was about 1.5 inches above the fill line, way to much, paper work says they added 5.7 QTS but they didn't measure with anything just a big jug, dumping it in. Gonna have it towed to my mechanic, get his opinion incase its something else

1.5 inch over full is likely more than 2 quarts overfilled.

I'd have my mechanic drain all the oil out in such a way that the total volume could be measured.

the outcome

One of my spark plug wires had melted and was arching on the top of the engine, only giving me 5 cylinders, oil wasn't the issue, just a thought.

Glad you found that out. Knew the oil issue couldn't have made such a problem.
