Wiring gone haywire. Truck Fire Need help!

well the other day my 86 4runner spontaniously just about started an electrical fire. I was working over at a hotel and my truck had been parked for about 4 hours with no problems and the hotel security came and told me my truck was on fire. when i got down there my 4runner had filled the whole loading dock up with smoke and they said it had only been doin it for a few minutes. i disconnected my battery and it quit. I found that the wire from my battery to my fuse box looked fried and my main 80amp fuse in my fuse box was blown and melted to the fuse box. we stuck a pocket knife in between the busted fuse for a few seconds to see if everything would work like normal and it does. the problem i am having is that when i poped the hood the smoke seemed like it was coming from around or under my distributor. Im headed to the junk yard today to get a new fuse box but just because that will make it work im worried that there is something else wrong. also i just hooked up a black magic electric fan about 2 weeks ago. I know that i wired it up right but all this seems kinda suspiciuos. let me know what yall think and ill see if i can post some pics later. Thanks!
