Wireing Aftermarket Turning Signals

Wireing Aftermarket Turning Signals
I was told I need bigger turning signal lights for inspection( the ones that came on it were way to small). I did a test wireing before I try to mount them, The only problem was they seemed to be way to dim. I assume I just need to run some more power to it But how would I go about doing that? Is there a way to run more power that would only work with the turn signal? or should I run power to it that come on upon ignition and the blinker signal will just make it brighter? It's an 85 pickup by the way but there's been allot of aftermarket work done to it so I'm not sure how stock the wireing is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

This is very similar to what people are doing to “upgrade” their headlight harnesses. More info is found in the thread below and in 4Crawler’s link
Basically you would be doing the same thing, but your blinker would trigger the relay instead of the headlight wire.
If that is measured at the back of the headlight connector under load, that is pretty good. You want to be within 0.5 volts of the battery voltage with the headlights on for optimum light output:

Ok I feel kinda stupid now, it was a pretty easy fix the lights I got had a red and a black wire coming from them I just automatically asumed live and ground right? Wrong both were suposed to be live (for when they're installed as brake/turn lights) So I just wired both wires to the blinker wire and it works great.
Thanks for the reply anyway thought, if I ever run into a similar problem I'll be sure to use a relay.
