rewiring roll bar lights - easier in truck or out?
ok ill be rewiring the lights i have on top of my roll bar and had a quick question. there are 2 ways to do it: snake the wires into the predrilled holes and drill a hole in the side on the bottom of the bar and run them into the cab while the bar is on the truck,
or remove the bar, then run the wires down to the opening in the bottom of the bar, then put the bar back in, then run the wires into the cab. id like to know: which way would be easier? thanks, and good night

It depends on what your more comfortable with. If you wire it on the truck, you don't have to pull the dozen bolts or so that hold the bar in. But if you do it off the truck you have more room to move around the bar to do what your doing. Either way your pulling the wire through the bar aren't you?
Where are you thinking about drilling the "outlet" hole? Just above the lip of the bed? or lower, and punch a hole in the bed to let them out unseen?
I'm thinking about rewiring mine too. When I initially ran mine, I didn' know where I wanted them, so I ended up running them in a plastic housing on the out of the roll bar. If I do it again, I will drill my hole right above the front lip of the bed, so my wires will run down between the bed and the cab.
Another thing I did after I wired it was I came back and installed a 2" round "trailer Plug" in the harness. It's located under the front edge of the cab, so if I want to put my camper back on, all I have to do is unplug the harness and unbolt the bar. No cutting and marking or hasle with installation at a later date. : ) Personally, it was definitely worth doing. I just wish I had done it when I first installed the bar! lol It would have saved me 2 hours of work later. But I like the flexabilty of the plug.
Sorry back on topic: If I were you and I wanted to do it right. I would mark the hole right above the front lip of the bed, on the front edge of the bar. Then remove the bar, drill the hole, run the wires, install and hook up the lights and re-install the bar in the truck. Like I mentioned earlier, I would also suggest the "plug" under the bed, incase you ever want to remove the bar for any reason.
Good Luck

done actually... i decided i didnt feel like running the wires through the bars, so i just soldered the connections and then electrical taped them to the bar. actually looks really good, cant see the wire. used 2 rolls of electrical tape to do it. (stuff i bought to do this was .99 a roll)
