remove complete center console with heater from 92 four runner
Hi, rural mail carrier here wanting to remove the center console heater, but don't wan't to mess us my other heater, not sure what to do? has big pipes running through floor... please help!!! I have searched everywhere. Don't know if i need to somehow cut the pipes and try to seal or pinch or what...

do i need to drain the coolant first? and if so where would i drain from, sorry i don't really know a whole lot about my 4runner yet... I have had it less than a week. thanks, sandy

No, just make sure the coolant is cool. Then the coolant in the lines you disconnected you can drain.

On the driver side firewall you will see the two steel water lines running down to the heater, with rubber hose running from other engine plumbing (up top.) All you need to do is remove one rubber hose end (on the engine plumbing side,) then loosen and twist the other one onto the spot where the first one was removed, just trace the water line to be sure you do it correctly. As said by greg_canada its just a 'u' that short cuts the heater.....been running my 95 like that for awhile.

I will have one that will be up for grabs also when I get around to doing this to my '93 runner. Can't wait to rebuild my own, I hate the OEM console and the heater is worthless to me, never use it.

One nice thing about the rear heater is that you can turn it on and drop your engine temp pretty quickly if your near overheating in the summer. And, you won't be blowing the hot heat on yourself. When I used to tow, I would have to turn that heater on every time I hit an incline more then 1/2 mile long.
