If I were to mount driving lights on a yakima loadwarrior basket what would be the best way to run the wires into the car? Any ideas?

for my surco lights, i ran a hot and ground up through the apillar door seal, and then it comes out into a heatshirnked pair through the rubber above the door. the wires do not get pinched in the door or anything like that.

heres an older picture, but you can just make out the wire just behind the forward bracket, about midway on the rear door.

the other (and slightly more popular) option is to run cables to the rear, up the rear hatch jamb, and to the rear of the rack. that is at least 20 feet of wire, and not for me. Although i may use this way to wire the rest of my lights that will end up ontop.

a third option is to drop the headliner and drill through the rack tracks on top, run your wires through there and into the sunroof cavity, down the interior a-pillar trim, and into the dash/engine bay. problem with this is sealing your hole up top and removing those fun screws that hold the entry handles.

Psalm 112 do the wires running across the rear hatch molding cause any leaking problems?

 

My wires come off the rack and behind the driver's side rear passenger door rubber molding, then down into the engine comparment.

 

Nope. Not one bit. I ran the wires through that black-flex-loom-tubing-stuff and I've had no problems.

If you search around, you'll find a flanged connector with up to 8 pins. Not only that, but if you come up with a fun business name, they'll ship you the connectors UPS for free!

This is assuming you don't mind drilling into your roof. My plan was to be able to easily remove the rack with lights when I was driving around town. These connectors seem to let you do that.

i have bullet style connectors in the weatherstriping mid pillar. easy to pop off when i need to.
