Question about the safety of an electrical modification
I followed this link http://www.top4runners.com/ja/2007/12vpower.html and did this mod to supply constant current to the outlets. I did it EXACTLY like instructed, with the correct guage wire, terminals, I was sure to strip the wire properly, crimp as flat as I could for the most contact between the terminal and the wire, inserted the mod firmly, etc. It works great!
Since I am by no means an electrically gifted person, having suffered a car fire in the past due to my idiocy, and the fact that this was so quick and easy (almost too quick and easy) I would just like to know that this mod is safe and will not set my truck on fire. It really sucks not having full time 12v, and I was really happy to find this mod!
Thanks in advance for any reassurances or warnings
And I guess it is about time for me to thank everyone here for the resources and advice about all the cool stuff I have been able to do to my new dream truck! This place rocks.

Well, the circuit is fused, so unless the device you're using causes the fire, you're pretty safe.
As with all stuff, you're not supposed to leave things unattended, but something like a phone charger is absolutely fine to leave around...
HTH.

100% safe. If it works, you did it right. If you used the correct gauge wire and took your time with the details, there's almost nothing that can go wrong beyond leaving something plugged in too long and draining your battery.
Congrats, you are no longer an electrical disaster area... but don't get too cocky...
hahaha
