Question Power Tailgate issue

I have a 93 4Runner, just replaced the power tailgate with one less rusty. The key switch to raise and lower the glass was working before i made the switch to the new tailgate. I have checked all the wiring to make sure connections are correct. Using the same wiring harness as my old tailgate. When I turn the key in the tailgate, I can hear the relay in the back clicking as well.
Now here's the kicker,... My inside switch on the center console works fine to lower and raise the glass in the tailgate.

Any suggestions, tips, clues would be greatly appreciated!

how much did u have to take apart the key switch to get it out and change it over? sounds like it might of dropped one wire or something to the motor. or a connection inside the switch.

wasn't much to get it out, disconnect the plastic connector, remove the sliding pressure plate and done. Reverse order to re-install it. I'll get a meter on it the next chance I get.
Buddy of mine said maybe the dealership has to input a code or something to reset the electronics? He said his caravan had that done to it when he changed his headlights. Just curious.

I would bet you have a bad connection some place.

Maybe a broken wire that is now not making contact that got moved around in the install process.

I am sure you will find it
