I have an interesting problem that I wonder if anyone else has had. I have a 1993 4Runner SR% V6 5-Speed and about a year ago installed an aftermarket head unit into the stock location and wired everything into the original wiring harness. (I have installed lots of these before with no problems in the past). Anyway, I forgot to turn off the headlights one day and had the stereo on, when I turned the key off the stereo was still on. I manually turned the stereo off with the power button and left the vehicle. Later someone told me that the lights were on in the truck and I wondered if that had anything to do with the stereo and sure enough it did. I can turn the headlight switch to the marker lights position or the full lights on and the stereo comes on without the need of the key. I never noticed this with the stock stereo but maybe it also worked this way too.
Now last night I have a Cobra CB in the ashtray location and wired into the cigarette lighter power, which has no power with the lights on. I don't really care about the stereo power coming on (interesting though it is) but I would like to have power to the CB even with the lights on. Thanks for any help you can give. Cheers.

 

hard wire the cb to the battery and make sure you ground that sucker well
