Passenger Front Tire Cam

Passenger Front Tire Cam
Last year I added a camera to show the where the passenger front tire placement is and figured it was good enough to make the rear view mirror permanent.
The mirror with the LCD was designed to strap on the stock mirror but I it's kind of a Jerry rig setup. Plus on the 3rd gens if you have the sunglasses holder the pocket bumps into the mirror when opened.
Here's what the camera sees in the passenger front tire area. Someday when I add rock lights this will be a handy little thing at night too.

The camera is stuck on with neodymium magnets (center top of photo). Hasn't come off even when I was jumping my rig. I siliconed glass in front of the lens so I can wipe the mud off without scratching the lens.

Model number in case you want to get one. I think I paid about $150 for mine.

I cannibalized the stock mirror to make the new mount for the rear view mirror. As far as I could tell there isn't a way to take apart the stock mirror to get at the ball and socket mount without destroying the stock mirror. Pretty straight forward, I drilled three holes in the plastic for the bolts to secure into the aluminum.

I TIG welded some the steel wire to the heads so they wouldn't spin when putting the nuts on the other side. Not necessary but that kind of thing bugs me so I went ahead and did it.

Here's the stock mount on the aluminum plate.

And now mounted to the rear view mirror.

It attracts too much attention so I painted it black.

Not really a necessary mod but a fun one. When riding those narrow edges it's handy to have although depth perception is nill so it can cause trouble if you are about to descend of a ledge or something and you are relying on the camera. I've found it works well to stop and take a look for a reality check but watching it when moving caused more problems than it helped.
