Does the fuse blow instantly, or just when you turn the lights on?
If you have a trailer light harness check to see if any wires are broken. Check the tail lights for broken wires too. All that stuff is on the same circuit. By any chance have you recently put in a new stereo? Cuz if you have a wire crossed there, that could be causing it also.

No new sterreo and it blows instantly with or with out lights on. No breaks in the tail light wiring or my trailer light cord. Also checked all the bulbs.

This is a link to the entire lighting system diagram:

http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../4lighting.pdf

That fuse was blowing in my truck too and it ended up being the illumination wire behind the dash.
Hope that link works for you.

dome light grounding out- cigarette lighter are notorious for gremlins

which fuse is blowing please ?

give us more info-nothing has changed ? this just started happening out of the blue? rain or dry up there? body damage? remote starter ?

4pin trailer connector not smashed at the bumper or where is it on yours? checked it with a tester? I just had a couple months frustration with mine....

Need help with lighting..

I've got a 95 4 runner with no dash, running, or liscense plate lights. I put a 15amp fuse in and it blows when I turn running lights on. I've checked the relay and dimmer switch.
This might seem irrelevant, but I had a tire peel the tread on passenger rear a cpl weeks ago, " about how long been have ng light problems", I've looked in that area but can't find any bad wires in that area. Any and all help wld be appreciated.

I had a similar issue and my bulb socket was corroded, easy enough to pull all your bulbs and make sure there is no green rusty funk, I have seen bad bulbs blow fuses. I ended up taking out all my bulbs and see if it blows a fuse if it doesn’t then you know where to start.

Obviously the outside is going to be hit first with the elements than the inside so I start outside. As far as the tire peeling, do you see anywhere that may have caught a wire? Trailer wiring look ok?(if you have any)

Start simple

Thank you for your reply, I've checked all bulbs and sockets, I also checked trailer plug and those are good. A friend loaned me his power probe short tester and it showed a spot where there's a diode fuse. It's a 3 prong 1.5amp fuse/diode. Went to the junk yard to see if I cld find another one and I checked 6 different 4runners and none of them had it.
I'm not sure what this is for but it's inline with the running light harness. I'm unable to find one at any parts store so I guess I'm gna have to get a hold of the dealer and find out what this is and what it does. A friend did some research and it's called a flyback diode relay.
I've never heard or seen this before and I've had 3 4runners.
