Hey guys I have a 1990 4runner with the 22re. I realized that the tailgate window won't go down with the key. So I took the panels off and found that the wires comming from the key switch are NOT connected to anything. I couldn't figure out where they go.

 

It should plug on the back of the key switch.

The cylinder pops out but the switch part should still be there .

Then one never knows what might have been done.

 

The part is connected to the key switch, but if you follow the wire across the harness it has two a female connections kind of like a speaker but is not connected

 

I don`t have the EWD for the 90 4Runner but looking at both the 88 and 92 those wires go into the harness .

Then Out through the Hatch and the first plug is in the area of the left tail light..

Then there is no telling what may have been done .

 

Here is a picture of the wire.

 

That looks to be the wires to the rear window defroster grid.

The white/black stripe is the ground

The black carries the current

That is the only wires with the color of these.

going by the information I have at hand
