Injector plug

Well I am trying to get this damn truck back together. The last time I was taking it apart the little clip on the injector plug broke off. Now the plug won't stay tight and it will fall off for sure as soon as I get the plenum back on.

Is there a tool to remove the end from the wire and press on another one? Don't know if that makes sense. Or do I have to go and cut one off of a donor truck and splice it into the harness? If that is the case do I solder it? Or do I crimp it? I've heard pros and cons about this too.

Any help is appreciated. This truck hasn't been running for way too long.

Jason

you can get replacment plug ends from the dealer. There is a little clip you need to hold out of the way to pull the wire out. Its fairly easy to do. Use a small metal pick if you can

Perfect...that's good news. Guess I can order that up when I go and get a few more valve shims that I need. Saves a trip to the wrecker.

Thanks.

Might as well do all 6 since you have easy access to them. Ive seen alot of guys break them off then secure them using gasket silicon. Talk about hacky!

Since I've ripped into this engine because of a blown head gasket there has been lots of "might as well do it since I'm in here". You are probably right....I might wrap the wiring harness in some heat wrap as well...it's getting a little brittle. You know...."since I'm in there".

If the machine shop set the heads up right then I would have been driving this thing for a couple months now....
