OEM CD Player giving up the ghost

Okay all you stereo guys, my OEM cd player is kicking the bucket. I want to replace it with a new headunit with an mp3 player input and cd player. I the past, I put Pioneer stereos in my old cars, but have not kept up with current technology. I don't want to spend a lot of money, perhaps less than $200, and I don't intend on creating a thumping system.

With that said, what are my options?

Get a new pioneer deck. Most have an auxilary jack in the front for any mp3 player and are mp3 cd compatible.

I've replaced two units in the recent past. One in the Runner and the other in my Fourwinns. I used to be a Pioneer person and I ended up with Kenwood, and Sony. I really dislike them both! If you like Pioneer, stick with it. The technology goes so fast I almost wouldn't recommend spending more than what your planning on anyhow. In 6 months or a year it'll be damm near obsolete.

Nothing fancy, but it should work fine.

new head unit or PIE adapter?

Okay, so I still have not purchased a replacement stereo for my 4Runner. I limped along with the CD player but I can not take it any longer. I am still looking at the above head unit, but have decided to look at the PIE auxiliary adapters as well. After searching, I discovered some have had issues with the adapters and I wanted to see if I would be better off purchasing a new head unit or one of the adapters and ditching the cd player. I would then listen to my mp3 player. What do you guys think?

Just buy any decent head unit that can play MP3 discs. Throw a couple hundred of your favorite songs on a re-writable CD, throw it in and call it a day.
I have an Alpine and love it.
Here, take your pick:
