head lights

I put this post on the first gen thread too, but what should i make of having to re-wire my headlights and when i turn them on, the switch goes straight to brights? is this a switch issue or wiring?

Not sure if you are saying this is something you want to do or is a problem that you are having and wanting to fix. If a problem, was something changed recently? For example, if you just put in new headlights or bulbs, could be they are wired differently (high and low beam filaments swapped - have heard of this case before). If so, you can pretty easily swap the pins/wires at the headlight connectors:

The genius who had the truck before me had this truck wired like a bomb. Im trying to fix most deffinitely. However it might be the bulb cause i wired both headlights the same. Passenger works fine driver is very dim.

Likely the dim side might be due to bad wiring as well. 3 terminals on the headlight bulb; low beam, high beam and a common terminal. If somehow those get mixed up, you can have a current path of low-high instead of low-common or high-common and if so, you have the low and high beam filaments in series and that puts twice the resistance in the line, letting only 1/2 the current flow and it is like you are running your headlights on 6 volts instead of 12.

Alright, I'll take a look at it. One thing i did notice was that the coloring on the wires for the passenger and driver side on this truck are actually different. Pass side has reg-green, red-blk, and red-ylw. driver has red-green, red-blk and red-wht i think.(I could be wrong). I'll probably just look at my other truck when im home for christmas and see what's what. But what you said about it being so weak makes a lot of sense.
