Hazard Wiring

Hazard Wiring
I purchased my first Toyota rig. It's a 1988 xcab pickup frame with a flatbed and a 90 xcab body. It has the 88 harness. I'm trying to get the flashers working. The 88 has the hazard switch on top of the steering column. The 90 has the switch dash mounted. the truck has the 90 column. My question is what color are the wires going to the 88 hazard switch and is there any plugs under the dash these wires attach to? Can someone steer me in the direction where these wires go from the switch? I recently tackled going to a two tail light LED setup, wired in reverse lights which the truck didn't have. The dome lights are working finally. Thanks for any help you can shed on my project!!

Wow looks like you have your work cut
out for you.
Green Black is the left Green Yellow is the right.
This was all wired together through the turn signal switch and the hazard switch.
Do you have a switch in the dash for the four ways??
you need to have it switched correct or all the lights come on with either turn signal.

What you really need is the wire manual for the 90.
To figure out just how to wire the switch in the dash.
******How does a Cab from 1990 have a harness from 1988.??? This is the important question!!!
It is your first Toyota we will cut you some slack.
You have a 1990 Cab That is the year you need to know,
Because the 1988 is wired completely different because of the split switches.. Now I have the manual for the 92 4Runner but I don`t know if it is the same
Now if this does indeed have the 1988 Cab harness the easiest thing would be to just get the older steering column . If you were close to me I would give you one.

Hazard wiring
The guy I bought it from said he pretty much destroyed the stock 88 xcab rock crawling. He had a buddy that had this 90 xcab with dash and no harness. So he moved the dash pod and wiring harness from the 88 to this cab. It has the 90 steering column and the 88 wheel. The guy says he's forgotten alot about what he'd done it's been so long ago. The rig is built.

well we all get things like this from time to time .So you just need to decide which course to take .
the hazards and turn signals are a pain trying to wire them with the wrong harness.
I need to think about this and draw some diagrams .
I wonder would the older style combination switch fit on that steering column.

Yes that is correct to a point.
What you have to know is how to keep the turn signals isolated from the hazards .
If not every time you put on either turn signal both right and left will flash.
that is the part that is difficult. Because on the 88 harness it is all done in the steering column
This does have the combination switch from the 90 cab hacked into the 88 harness ??
What does the back of the switch for the hazards look like??
Is there any pig tail with it at all.??

Does anybody know if a 88 Toyota truck has a separate plug for the hazard switch and if so how many wires on the plug under the dash? This adapting one yr to another is a night mare. Thanks
