The large connector circled in the pic below needs to be unplugged in order to completely remove the tailgate. I can't figure out how to disconnect it... does anyone here have the answer? Thanks in advance.

 

Gen 4 what? 4runner? Always best to use actual model years and names as generations mean different things to different people.
