Gauge, Shifter, Climate control lights not working

Hey,
I've read a few of the articles regarding this and tried to fix it that way... however, my dimmer knob isn't getting 12V.... infact it gets nothing... the headlight switch still works.... parking lights come on and all that... but none of the lights inside work.... clock doesn't dim anymore when i turn on the lights... any ideas of how to fix this... or bypass it?

cheers

The dimmer knob acrually works on the negative side of the circuit so you would'nt "see" any voltage there anyways... Have you had the combination gauge out at all? I noticed that when my cluster is unpluged none of the lights work but when I connect it again all is good...
it sounds like you might have a problem with the light control relay if you have an 89-95 it is located below the ashtray. Remove the lower dash cover [one pop fastener on either side and pull towards you] it will be the large box attached to the right on the metal cross brace piece. Maybe borrow one from a buddy's truck and plug it in if it works that was the problem [duh lol] or you could pull one at the wrecker 4runners/pickups had same part in same place so it should be easy to find one...

Take that switch and unplug it, then shove a wire into it and ground it to metal and i bet it works. Or you could use a test light..

You misunderstood me. Take the switch itself off, there will be a plug on it. Take a testlight and hook it up to a ground and touch the inside contacts of the switch and bingo it should light up everything if the dimmer is bad.

A wire will also do this, but a testlight is a wee bit handier.
