Fuse blows could it be the relay??

Fuse blows could it be the relay??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have four relays that are being used for my E-lockers, when I switch one on it keeps blowing the fuse. I am thinking one of my relays is bad. Am I correct in thinking this? I only have a simple multimeter so I can not really check it but any help is appreciated.

The motors work fine, I rebuild one and checked the other. Please, anybody with electrical expierence help me out.

PS I did a search no luck.

I checked them, I read all the articles I could find on here earlier and checked as well as I could. I am thinking it may be one of the switches but not sure. I tried switching relays but ran out of fuses so I need to get some more and check some more.

IHATE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS.........I wish I had ARB's throw some soapy water on it and you are done.

Test the relay. Dissconnect the load, and throw the switch. You should hear the relay cick or feel it. If you have a voltmeter test terminals 30 to 87 and then 85 to 86. The voltage should read your supplied voltage. If not there is resistance in your relay which there shouldn't be. It may be possible that your E-locker solenoid has crapped out. Fuse is blowing because solenoid is drawing too much current.

Thanks, I will do that tomorrow night. I am not sure about the E-locker, I pulle dthe rear one and I fixed it. It did not run before but after several hours I got it running. Loose wire and dirty inside.

I have a simple tester but think I can test the relay using it. Thanks again for the info, did I mention that I HATE ELECTRICAL STUFF>>>>>>

Relay coil resistance should measure about 50-100 ohms, so you can check that out. Might be you have the wrong output contacts connected. If you want a contact that closes when the relay is powered, then check for the proper resistance change, should go from infinite to 0 when the relay clicks on.
