Engine Dies after touching Fp and T

So I was in the process of setting the timing on my 87 4 runner today and accidentally touched the T contact and the Fp contact in the diagnosis box with my jumper and it killed the truck immediately and now it won't start back up. I'm thinking the T (timing) contact had 12 volts and the Fp (fuel pump) contact also had 12 volts since it was running so Did I blow a fuse somewhere or where do I start to look for the issue?

Does it even have power? I dont know if that would blow the 80 Amp fuse but no power at all is a sign of that one blown.

Otherwise check the fuses under the hood and the drivers side kick panel. More symptoms of what you are experiencing would help such as cranking but not starting or no cranking, no power at all...

Check all your fuses !!

It now does not crank?? Or does not start??

If both those pins were at 12 VDC nothing would happen.

The T pin goes direct to the ECU not having a ECU print Not sure just what could happen.

The FP pin also goes direct to the ECU.

The only Voltage at the check connector is the B+ unless voltage is feeding back through the ECU Never having had to measure any of those pins I am not sure.

I hope you got lucky and had a fuse open.

So the truck cranks just fine but acts like it's not getting fuel or spark. I will check the drivers side kick panel fuses today and hope to find a blow fuse. Ill report back later with my findings.

I hate to say this, but you might have fried the ECM. You can try the voltage/resistance test here but it's a 1993 FSM, if you can find one for 1987, use that test. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...ne/44engin.pdf

So it ended up that te 15A EFI fuse blew when I touched the pins together. New fuse and she cranked right up! Thanks everyone!

You were very lucky perhaps sacrifice a virgin to your God or Goddess of Choice.

Glad it was simple

Great to hear it was a minor fix and all is well. Thanks for letting us know.
