ECU question
#2
You really won't know for sure until you try it, unless someone else has already tried it. The first thing you have to check is; are the female plugs on the ECU's the same between those years? The next would be are the injectors the same part #'s and after that are all the sensors the same"? You could go to Rock Auto or some other site and see if the sensors are the same part #'s that would give you a pretty good idea as to whether the non 94 ECU will work. Toyota also went from cable drive to speed sensors to run the speedometer and this is tied into the engine ECU and cruise control computer, but I don't know what the actual transition year was so that is something else that you will have to check out.
Bottom line is if no one else has done this before you may not get a definitive answer to your question, so all of the research may be on your shoulders!
