brake light

I have a 1989 toyota pickup with a v6. I have a problem where the emergency brake light turns on every time I accelerate from stop. Ive noticed that it happened more frequently and the light stays on longer when my engine is cold.

On mine that light also comes on when brake fluid is getting low.

^^ what wolfy said, top off your brake fluid and check for leaks just to be sure.

Like L5wolvesf and akwheeler said, check your brake fluid level. The movement of the brake fluid at a low level might be enough to turn on the light during acceleration.

If brake fluid is low, check for the cause, either a leak or the brakes have worn to the point that more fluid is in the brake calipers and cylinders, leaving the reservoir low.

The parking brake lever switch might cause this too, although I would think it would also blink going over bumps too.

Shorted wiring is another possibility, but less likely than the above possibilities. Suspect the above first.
