Best Driving Lights?
#23
Oh did I mention with the change of weather so to can my lights change by switching the fiters. Shazzam like that well 1 min. or 2 and then Shazzam. I have had PIAA 580's, 520's, pro 80 xt's Hella 500's multiple pairs, IPF J01's I still like the LightForce better especially because of the quick filter change.

what do you guys think of the optilux 2020's . driving/fog lights in one. seems like they would be pretty sweet.

PIAA pro 90xt. Both a driving and a fog lamp in the same housing. No filter change required. A little large though. Mine are recessed into the grill some.

And again forgot to mention if doing a night run and filming with my camcorder in night vision mode I can put my night vision filters on the lights too! Increasing the limited vision of the camera and viewer to almost endless distance "for the camcorder" Can your PIAA's do that?

So here's where i'm thinking about mounting some rectangular lights. (in yellow)
I'd have to cut through the plastic and also make a "L" shaped mount to bolt to the frame. What do ya think?

That could look really cool. Like the yellow Hella fog lamps?

I had a set of Crappy tire house brand driving lights on my old '87 mounted on top of the bumper in place of the bumper top bolts. I aimed them just as you would a set of standard headlights and with the stock 45W bulbs I almost never got flashed by other drivers [even used them instead of my regular lights in the city sometimes with no problems from the local cops].
Worked really well too I was able to light up stop signs from about 2KM away haha.

good stuff all. think i'm gonna go w/ some rectangular lights that are about 4 x 6 so they'll fit in that cut out on the bumper. not totally sure if i should go w/ fog, driving, or a set that has both built in. i want coverage int he front, but i want everything really bright out to a couple hundred feet. hmmmm

PIAAs don't come with covers just that brush guard thing. When/if I do my roof rack, I'll do 4 540 fogs up top, and 2 540 driving lights on the bottom. A lot of poeple I know run Hellas, and I had 4 KCs on my old Ford(they did not throw anywhere near enough light), but I think the PIAAs are much brighter, well worth the $$$$ in my opinion. I only see Hellas on American trucks around here, and PIAAs on foreign trucks, don't know why.
