96 Tacoma No Charge. HELP!!

I have a 96 4x4 tacoma, i put a new altenator on it.. still not charging the battery.. jump it off and it'll run for a few until the battery dies then it'll start skipping and eventually die. Do these altenators have a internal or external voltage regulator?? They told me at advance that it was internally regulated.. but i beg to differ based on all the factory wires that hook to the altenator. If externally regulated, where is the regulator.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. thnks

I think the last Toyota i saw with a external regulator was back on a 83 22R but i could be wrong.

So yes it has a internal regulator .

If it has the stock engine.

Being it is a Toyota it very well might have a engine from the 1960`s .

If this is a new alternator just take it back and get another one.

If it tests good then something on the truck is causing the no charge issue.

Check wiring for corrosion and for a popped fuse both in the engine compartment and the under-the-dash boxes.
Do you have a CEL on?

Check that your ground cables are good .

Belt tensioned as it should be.

Time to buy a Multimeter.

To get some real numbers.
