92 4Runner HID Issues

Hey all, I searched around a bit, but can't seem to find any threads with my exact problem.

The previous owner of my 4Runner installed an HID kit to replace the factory headlights. Since I bought the truck the headlights have occasionally flickered on startup with only one side or the other turning on with the truck. Once the truck was running, if only one headlight was on then it was not possible to turn the other on with out restarting the truck and turning the combo switch a few times in the cabin. Once they were both on they both stayed on for as long as the truck stayed running. This continued until a few days ago, at which point neither headlight flickered or turned on at all. It seems that there has been some failure in the system.

-I have checked all the fuses under the hood and they are all intact.
-All other lights on the vehicle work fine
-I noticed shortly after the lights stopped working the clock had also reset

Based on the reading I've done so far (HID manufacturer website, 4crawler, here, etc.) it seems that the flickering issue stems from the cheap HID system being wired directly into the trucks switch-ground electronic system without a relay. I could have misinterpreted what I read though. I also found nothing to suggest what might have caused the lights to fail completely.

Has anybody here had a similar issue or know what could be causing the flickering/one headlight issue and the subsequent failure?

Any info or pointers are greatly appreciated!

Have you checked with a Meter that the bulbs have not both failed??

Sounds like this was a Mess from the start.

Just How was it wired in soldered and heat shrink or butt connectors it does not take much if you live any place that has winter weather the winter chemicals will get in and corrode any connections
