87. Runner high beam problems

I bought an 87 4Runner yesterday and on the way home went to use my high beams. All the lights shut off when I went to use the continuous high beams but the high beams worked fine when I went to use the temporary flash high beams. Any idea of what I need to look at first?

Usually , cleaning the contact points inside the dimmer switch fixes this problem.
It fixed mine.
After you clean the contacts, consider installing a relay controlled headlight harness to minimise the current that the dimmer must pass.

Several different threads concerning the cleaning process and retrofitting harness on here.

Hi everyone. My lowbeams do not work and my highbeams only work when I pull back on the switch and will not work if I push it forward to use the continuous high beam mode. Any ideas???
