I have a 85 runner that was converted to carb. I have an ignitor out of an 83 pickup and I am trying to use the stock SR5 tach. Does anyone know what wire to connect the ignitor wire to. I have checked the wiring diagram and traced what I thought to be the tach wire in the factory harness from the cluster to under the hood. It still does not work. Does anyone know what color wire the ignitor connects to, that goes to the cluster.

 

is the wiring diagram from the 83?

No but what I have heard all the first generations have the same wiring harness. I will try to scan it and send it to you. I will have to find some where to scan it first.

 

ive never seen the wiring on stock tachs but on my 81 i had an aftermarket tach and the green wire went into the ignitor

 

yeah i havent really looked into it to deep cause i have a few other things on higher priority
but yeah just cut out and havent quite isolated a problem

 

when I did my sr5 gauge swap I had to run a wire from the green connector on the ignitor directly into the tach. My truck was not prewired for the tach though.

 

according to this 1985 diagram the wire color from the ignitor to the tach is BLK
