Commando question

So I rewired my alarm fixing connections and hooking up new features and now when I try to unlock it just chirps once the lights flash and nothing happens, any ideas? I also went through and tested all connections with a mulitmeter so they're all good

Are you getting a voltage pulse at the unlock wire when you hit the button? Did you re-learn the remote to the brain? Does it lock but not unlock? Does it start?

Since the doors are ground triggered would I still get a pulse? No unlock, no lock, no start, just a chirp and flashing lights.

Ahh true - whoops.

Then check for a "pulse" of continuity (yeah, that's what I meant! ) between the trigger wire and ground.

Oh hey... did you remember to ground the safety interlock, and are you running a hood switch? I can't get to my install manual, but I remember that there's a specific wire that had to be grounded if you weren't using it. I think it was for a cutoff? And then the hood switch was a separate "oh yeah!" moment when I installed mine.

hmm, I'll look at the diagram and check to see if I can find the wire you're talking about.

Hey Brian;

I found the manual online - we're talking about the FM-870, right?
http://www.commandocaralarms.com/man...870install.pdf

Anyway... the wires I'd start looking at would be:

H5/1 - White/Black, Negative safety shutdown
H5/2 - White/Violet, Positive safety shutdown
H5/3 - Black/White, Remote start enable (this is the one I was thinking about above)
H6 - This is the door look trigger

You may also want to reset the alarm options back to factory. This is on Page 22, "Return to factory default setting". That would clear up any chance that it's in some weird "safety" mode.
