Wondering What to do
Hey Guys. I just purchased my first Toyota a week ago after envying my buddy's truck for a long time. I have a jacked up ford but i wanted an everyday driver good on gas so i bought a 94 Toyota pickup. I love that little thing. 5spd 2wd 22re. My question for you guys more experienced in toyotas is.... i just got my body lift for it. i bought a 3" pro lift kit. When i put it on, does the 2WD model (the one i have) have the same torsion bar as the 4WD? I want the appearance of a lifted truck without going too high because its only a 2WD truck. And another question is how capable are these 2WD trucks off road? Thanks for any advice.

With a locker in the rear, it will be comparable in some terrain to a 4wd w/ open diffs. As for the torsion bars, try doing a part number search for 4wd and 2wd at napaonline.com or toyodiy.com.

Not sure on the torsion bars either, I suspect they are different between 2WD and 4WD. If they are the same then there would be no advantage to swapping a 4WD bar in anyway.
A ball joint spacer can give some lift up front:

Might Also check out Downey Off Roads 2WD page: http://www.downeyoff-road.com/Suspen...s/1979-95.html
I think they sell Sway Away Torsion bars. I had a set in a Baja I built in High School, awesome stuff.

There is also a desert forum called Desert Rangers or something like that has a good Toyota 2WD folder...Very capable..some of it depends on the budget
But do a little suspension upgrades and throw a locker in the back you have a great off roader that gets great mileage and can be fun to drive...
