i had a set of BFG muds for the last 55k, the lasted forever but in the last 10-15k they started to wander all over the highway, felt like i was pulling a trailer and really didnt feel good. i just got some nitto terragrapplers and love them on the highway, dont know how well they do offroad, ill let you know tomorrow!

 

i am actually looking for tires also
it is my daily driver and i mainly use it for mud and probably will never use it for rocks and
i need something that is somewhat decent on price in 33x12.5Rx15, will last quite a while mileage wise 35k+ (i do quite a bit of drivin) but i do NOT want an A/T
i was thinkin about the cooper discoverer STT, firestone destination M/T, General Grabber M/T, somethin like that PLEASE help me out and let me know of things you have heard about these tires or other tires that i am leavin out

Well I know the Genital Grabbers suck. My girl's dad had them on his F-250 Super Duty and they wore down FAST and the ride got harsh as the tread wore down. Try out tirerack.com. The Firestones got good ratings and my Dunlops, I feel, are the best bang for the buck. I have ZERO complaints about them. I have about 27k on mine and will definately make the 35k mark. Good luck.

No, I have the TSL's which are bias ply.

TSL Radials are radial.

 

anyone have anything good to say about the Yokohama Geolander AT/S?

 

My Yota doesn't see daily driver duties so Bias tires don't bug me. Plus a bias has a thicker side wall.

I hate Pro Comp tires with a passion. They are crap!

they're expensive, but in my experience, worth every penny. just look at the ratings on tire rack, with 334 submissions to the survey!

 

X2 on the TrXuS M/T's. Inexpensive, thick sidewalls, performance on par with a heavy mudder.

 

I had 'em on my '97 and they were only about $100 a tire and offered great grip on dry pavement and decent control in the wet and off road they were a solid tire too.

The bad which made me go with Nittos over another set of Yoks was they seem to wear fast (treadwear rating was 380 compared to the Nittos 500) hence the great dry grip but the Yoks do have a 50k mileage warranty.
The Nittos aren't as cheap (still not a bad price tho') but do have a slight edge in the snow and slush and seem to be wearing alot better after 15k miles.

I liked the STT's, but the rubber is so hard that they don't do all that well on wet rock. they are tough, and they wear good on-road, but there's a price to pay for the treadwear.

 

Anyone familiar with Summit tires? I just bought my 99 4runner and it has fairly new Summit Cascades on it. They look versatile for a daily driver.

When I got my truck it had 35x12.50 STT that were about 50% tread and they were dry rotted, I think they were pretty old, but the truck didn't ride to bad considering the bad pitman arm it had, I have 31.10.50 BFG MTs now and they are a bit noisier, but I like them a little better all around, if I had to choose the same size just fdifferent tires between the two I would stick with my MTs. I really want Radial TSLs though

when im done ill be switching to some goodyear mtr's. anyone run those?

thats coz those that know... know im also going to be changing after my 2nd set of MT/R's..but thats not gonna be for a while yet. 1sicyota, they're a great tire. lots of people use them (esp in rock terrain) and know they work and work well...myself included
