I agree! Sorry if I came off as an asshat in my first post, I need to use the preview post button more

When I heard BLs I just got to thinking pristine rigs I remember in the high school parking lot with 28's and fancy tail lights which never saw so much as a dirt road.

[/OT]Where are you in KY? Think me and crackerjack are headed to Harlan on the 20th to spectate a ride...[/OT]

The ONLY advantage is tire clearance...
Approach and departure angles are increased in some vehicles after the BL.

The MANY disadvantages:
  • Raised COG
A suspension lift does this too, to a greater degree
  • Shifter complications
Assumes you have a manual tranny and gear box. There's no shifter complications on a 4th gen 4Runner, for example.
  • Increased body roll on roads
Can happen from a suspension lift, too.
  • Often makes your bed unusable for heavy loads
  • Increased chance of failure on older bodies
  • Leaves the dreaded gap between frame and body
This is a matter of opinion, not a + or -.
  • Doesn't increase ground clearance at all
Approach and departure angles are increased in some vehicles after the BL. More ground clearance is provided at the rocker panels.
  • Cost $$$
A suspension lift costs 10x a body lift.

I have a 3" body lift and 4" of suspension lift. (Chevy Springs in rear)
I did it to better fit my 35's at full articulation.
Body roll is not a problem with my truck. I take corners fairly fast for my size truck but don't have a big issue with excessive body roll. Even when offloading I've had my truck way over on its side and not rolled it. I did notice that when I put the Chevy springs in the rear my truck does seem to take corners allot better. before it seemed like it was going to roll over. I still get body roll but the truck handles better.

good info Mikes, all valid points. Perhaps more people will understand that bodylifts are not the bad, bad things a lot of people think they are.

Wow this is terrible.

Order a kit from 4Crawler.

If not, cut the fenders.

I just ordered my 1.5" kit from Roger.
Hopefully I won't wreck because of it...

I'm planning to get a 3 inch block lift for the rear and 2.5" front spacer.
