What does your Yota weigh?

I hauled some junk to the county trash dump the over the weekend and when I weighed out (empty truck) I asked the guy for the weight:

'91 Regular Cab 22RE/5 speed/4WD
No spare (old one was original-need to get a new one)
1/2 tank of fuel
No driver
70lb Chocolate Lab
265/75/16 Treadwright Guard Dogs
16x7 Steel Tundra wheels (Definitely heavier than stock)

The scale said 3400 lbs which seems like a lot? Curb weight for a '91 4WD Regular Cab is listed at 2750 lbs. If that's accurate (and the scale is accurate), that's a difference of 650 lbs. Obviously subtract 70lbs for the dog, but that still is a difference of 580 lbs. Plus curb weight usually means a full tank of fuel and I would assume, a spare. Next time I'm at the scrap yard I'll ask them for the weight on their scale to see how it compares. What does your Yota weigh?

Red face

I haul way to much stuff around to get a weight even close .

What is the GVW of your truck.

I just looked at my87 4Runner gross is 5080 so was my 85

the 2000 Tacoma was 5100

Going by your gross which is the important weight of 5080 and your tare weight coming off the scale was 3400

You could put 1,680 pounds on your 1/2 ton Toyota less your weight of course and still be legal.

I have no clue where they come up with theses curb weight maybe to get a cheaper transport rate.

It all comes down to what your real empty weight is . The scale you weighed on might be off

When i went to the metal scrap yard my truck weighed 4200 with 700 lbs of steel, 3500 plus 2 guys @ 200lbs a piece. Down to 3100 and with 33x12.5s. so thats probably close to accurate for me?

sounds like the scale may be off a little?

my stock 85 4runner 3200 lbs, with steel stock heavy wheels an 225/75/15 tires, so if you took off the shell and the roll bar , it would prob weigh in at 2800 to 2900

I've weighed in at ~5700 lbs, with a ~1800 lb. load of scrap metal in the bed of my 88 ½ ton.

Whacky but thats my favorite thing to do at the dump, watch the scale to see what vehicles ahead of me weigh what. Surprising sometimes when 1/2 ton ford trucks weigh less then my yota. Then every now and again theres an F-350 diesel that tips the scale at 9K. Still its interesting to watch. Crazy but on average almost all short bed pickups are in between 4 and 5K. Regardless of make and model.

The stickers are never accurate in my limited exp. I think that is the average weight or the factory weight as a standard load out. It goes up or down depending on mods, factory equipment, and or aftermarket parts. Not to mention things like removeing the ac compressor like I did due to the air not working at all so out it went and took weight with it.

Ya thinking the scales off on that one. Your truck should be around 3200. These things weigh 2600 with no motor in them. Unless you carbon fibered your whole truck. LOL

Not sure everyone here knows, (I know some do) but GVWR means basically what the whole vehicle weighs loaded. And by loaded I mean max capacity as per manufacturer.
So if it says GVWR is 6000lbs and your truck is a half ton then it probably weighs around 4800lbs. Ish ) They do allow a little more then a 1000lbs load in the rating.

4400 gvwr
2050 gawr frt on sticker

scale said 2600 lbs might be off but these guys run a junkyard and the service tag on the scale was new ( less than a month old). If its off they dont know it.
