What 4Runner would you pick?

SO, I sold my truck and now want another 4Runner. I loved my last one and still miss it (the one in my sig). I have two really good choices and I need help.

#1. 92 with 200K on it, *5 SPEED*, excellent condition, new clutch, no mention of a headgasket recall done, couple of minor small stuff it needs like a pass. side window switch, but otherwise ok. $3500 but might be talked down. Red.

Likes: 5 speed, b/c I will be doing a lot of interstate travel with it.
Dislikes: Red, 200K on the clock, but otherwise nothing else.

#2 95 with 157K, Auto, excellent condition from what I can see, grey, brushguard, sunroof, running boards, just a nicer looking 4runner. $4000

Likes: all except the auto
Dislikes: AUTO!

What do you guys think??? Help! What do you all think is better for an expedition style platform?

Get the VIN from both trucks, and call the dealership. FInd out if the VO6 has been done or not (head gasket campaign) and if the truck qualifies. If one hasn't had it and qualifies, buy that one.

also, in 94 Toyota added some more features such as side impact safety, so they added something in the doors. so if you want that extra bit of safety, th 95.

well, itll be more than 500 dollars. Its at a dealer, so all those effing fees will probably make it a bit more. But Ive had an auto, and it sucked. But I just wasnt sure what you all thought. Im kinda leanin towards the 5 spd tho.

You should be able to talk the 95 down to 3K.

I'd personally pick the 92 and talk it down as low as the seller will take. You're gonna HATE that automatic transmission

Hold out for a 96... 3rd gen rocks. I saw a nice 96 SR5 in the ATL Craigslist today for $4500! I have owned auto and 5speed in this configuration, and they are both quite close in mileage.

Ok, 3rd gens are NOT in the immediate future right now. Id pay 4500 -5000 for a 3rd gen with close to 200K on it, where I can get a 2nd gen, which I love BECAUSE IVE HAD ONE, with the same mileage, a lot cheaper (believe me, Ive def. looked). As a college student, Im looking for the cheaper of the two. When Im out of school in May, I will def. look into a 3rd gen, but now its not in the cards. I understand what the 3.0 is like, and I most def. understand what the 3.0 with an auto is like. Its as fast as a herd of turtles in a pool of cement.

Anyway, thanks all for your help. Keep letting me know what you think, and if theres anything else to look for. So far: blowby, ticking, leaks, fluids (and their smells), tranny engagement, etc, etc.
