Vibration problem, help please!

Hey,
The truck in question is a 1997 Toyota Tacoma. 80K miles.

My problem is a vibration that occurs around 35mph and continues untill around 65-70mph. Even then it is off and on.

First I thought it was the universal joints, how can I tell that they are shot? I went under the truck and I cant tell what play should or shouldnt be there.

After doing some searching I wanted to check my differential. I jacked the truck up and moved the wheels. I was checking for abnormal noises, and i did hear a slight "smooth rubbing" noise, but nothing that sounded too bad. Should i have heard anything at all?

What should I check next?

Thanks for your help!,

Paul

Take the driveshaft out and take it to a driveline shop to have the joints checked and the shaft balanced. Also check the trans case output flange for looseness. The nut sometimes will back off
