Unique trail fixes

Mods- feel free to move if I have this in the wrong spot - MC

Murphy's law. It happens. When it happens, how do you get back to the pavement? I thought it might be nice to compile a list of makeshift, unique or innovative trail fix tricks. We all have the stories, but let's put them in one place, similar to this thread about unadvertised advantages to certain chemicals https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f88/...12/index3.html

I know it's fairly simple, but I always carry a couple old wire clothes hangers with me. I was able to pound a separated tie rod end back together with a rock once and then bent a hanger around it into a "cage" to keep it together. It got me off the trail, with occasional stops to tap the cage a little tighter as it would loosen up. What other unique supplies and tools do you carry?

Had a buddy in college that had a '87 regular cab, with bj spacers and shackles. he cranked the t-bars to the point where it was about 3 inches over stock on 33x12.50's. He broke a tie rod goin up an obstacle one day. We rolled the truck back down onto a level section, straightened the tie rod as best we could with a hammer and a hitch, then used 2.5 rolls of duct tape to hold two pieces of rebar to the sides of the tie rod. That got him the 1/4 mile back to the main road, but fell apart there.

Lol ya...like I said. worked great to get him out at about 2mph. Used one roll to hold the rebar to the tie rod. Then used another to go around both tie rod ends to hold them to the center. Then used the other half roll to hold the whole bunch together...lol

Always carry zipties and a old peanutbutter jar full of odd bolts/nuts/washers.

Ive been lucky, no major trail fixes yet (on my rigs anyway)
