Turbo Thrush or Glasspack?

well im looking for a cheap exhaust and i found glasspacks 25$ and under, turbo thrush for 25$ and up. Ive seen the turbo muffler sounds pretty good. But i havent seen what the glasspack sounds like. Im running a straight pipe right now with a resinator. Anybody have any sound clips or tips for what im looking for? thanks

spend a little bit more and get a stainless steel magnaflow. more clear tone and lasts forever. I would suggest my muffler, but its pretty expensive. go with an 18" if you want a low quiet tone, 14" if you want something a little bit louder.

I'm running the turbo thrush with a downey header, no cat and 2.25 exuast. At idle and normal driving it sounds good. The upper range when full bore is a little raspy for my taste and had to add a resonator tip which helped but its still there a little. It could be due to the fact I am not running a cat.

here's some videos I just posted:

lol big difference there... V8 exhaust vs the V6 is like night and day pertaining to sound.

Under your mods in the link where you posted your vids it says you have a "magnaflo hi-flow cat" but your saying you dont have one? (in the idle vid it appears you dont) I am thinking of running the Borla muffler with no cat as well. The video with revs 3-5K is that with or without a cat? Thanks!

I'll explain. I have both a Inner changeable cat and a test pipe... both the same length, both with flanges.

Videos with cat:

The videos WITHOUT the cat is what I linked above, in the other post.

differences between the two:

you'd like to think theres no difference between the two, but there is. The cat was a little quieter throughout the powerband, but had a deeper lower tone at low rpms.

without the cat. its a much louder tone, very very deep. and it ROARS through the power band. you can easily hear me blocks away if im WOT.

I like glasspacks. I have the 3.0 in my truck, and it sounds pretty good. here are some videos.

I tried to watch these on my laptop, and they werent loud enough to hear, because i have weak speakers. If you have weak speakers, i suggest using headphones, but don't turn it up too loud, the truck is pretty loud. good speakers should have no problems at all.

yeah, where i live it's illegal to run it without the Cat, and my dad works for the state. I have run it on just the cat before, and it was loud, but sounded nasty, like a huge diesel truck(I know, that's an opinion thing). It's not the loudest out there, but I'm not trying to be obnoxious, and we have noise ordinances here too. Plus, I like the tone, and it is loud enough that I have to shout to be heard by people in the back seat.

I never said yours was obnoxious, in fact, I think yours sounds extremely good. If I had the money to do headers, I would. I just noticed that the OP said slightly quiet. I get remarks all the time from people saying that they can hear me coming a block or two away. Mine is quiet on the inside, but on the outside its a little louder. If you want, I can do a drive-by or to, and show you what it sounds like.

i dont have to run a cat because i can register it a county away where they dont do echecks but im still afraid that 2 1/4 exhaust with resinator and thrush turbo are gonna be obnoxious
