truck pull

so ive been over in a tractor forum quite a bit lately because of the new CUT i bought for my new 5 acers, and there was a post about two sub compacts they hooked up and had a pull off (which was really funny considering)

but the topic inpsired this response which i felt i had to share with the rest of my yota buddies.

"We used to do that with our 4X4 pickups in the 70's when the "Monster Truck" look was all the rage. If your truck hooked up hard it would wheel hop like nobody's business! Probably not the safest thing in the world to do, but we had a blast. The odd thing was that a guy with a '76 Toyota Land Cruiser with 38" Ground Hawgs (sp?) beat everyone in our group. I don't think he hardly had enough power to even spin them in low range 4X4 lock, but he would drag off my F250 long bed with 42" Buckshots on it. I had a 460ci engine and would be literally smoking my tires and he'd drag me backwards. Talk about being embarassed..."

Dang, a Ford 460 is like 425 ft-lb of torque down low.

I bet with the same tires that Ford would destroy the LC. Though it could be a matter of the LC having more weight over the rear tires as well.

the LC also could have still been spring under while the ford is spring over and most likely had some monster lift blocks. all the power in the world is useless if you cant get it to the ground

yep! being able to hook up is everything in a pull-off. a 4 banger with a double low that can put its power to the ground could tug a big V8 rig that is smoking the tires off.

I hooked up to my buddies Chevy 1500 4x4 with a v8 and street tires, with my 96 4runner with 285 BFG AT's, and I pulled him (just barely though)
