Trouble starting

Hey, Having trouble starting my 91 3.0. It has a very difficult time staring on the starter, the other day I had to take apart the intake and spay gas into it to get it going. It will run fine and starts fine for the rest of the day but the first time is terrable. I have changed the cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and fuel filter. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

James

You can pull the cold start injector and check if it's working. If spraying gas in there seemed to work, it might be the CSI malfunctioning. Because that's what it is supposed to be doing for you.

Another thing to try is the fuel pump test jumper:

Thanks

Thanks for the help I found a fuel leak on top of the gas tank, ran some new line and it helps. But I still have to turn it over three time the first time each day, I found the MAF sensor system and can easily bend the contack to run the fuel pump steady when the ignition is on. Are there anythings I should worry about buy doing this, besides the obvious of buning out the fuel pump if I were to leave it on and not running?

Thanks

Fuel pump can run all the time, it is cooled by the fuel and the pressure regulator feeds the fuel back to the tank. Main issue is probably safety, if you were in a wreck and the engine stopped running and a fuel line broke, the pump would keep going and plump fuel out of the broken line until the key was turned off. That said, many vehicles are set up to run the fuel pump any time the ignition is on. I ran my '85 with the pump jumpered to stay on for several years with no issues. I even added a switch under the hood to do so again if it ever acts up (hard starting) on the trail:

Funny thing is since I added the switch, have never had to use it as the fuel pump seems to work fine now.
