Tools needed for timing belt change
Does anyone have the snap on tool for sale or rent? I am in the midst of change the timing belt and would rather rent the tools or borrow them than purchase and have them collect dust forever. I will be will to pay shipping and a rental fee. This is for a 1997 4runner.
Thanks
Pete

No offense, but I sincerely doubt you'll find anyone to mail their snap-on tools to you in hopes you will return them. Not that there aren't nice people here, and I'm not implying you are a dishonest person, but that's asking a lot.
I have a sticker on my box that reads: "I make my living with my Snap-On Tools, please don't ask to borrow them".
Asking to borrow tools is a general no-no unless you are very good friends.

You don't necessarily need a snap on tool (actually blue point). There are a few other companies that make the belt tensioner tool, or whatever you want to call it. Here is a listing on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Belt-...spagenameZWDVW
And there are others out there for roughly the same price, maybe better quality, just do some searches.
If you're going to do your timing belt yourself, you might as well buy the right parts and tools to the do the job right. If you factor in the amount you're saving doing the job yourself (parts and labor), what you need to spend on a couple SSTs (specials service tools) is relatively negligable.
I plan on doing my T-belt and all the other stuff Toyota recommends on my 3.4 pretty soon. PM if you have any questions and I'll try to answer them.
