1984 Pickup Longbed
I'm rebuilding after a heavy collision. The rear of my frame is solid, but it was bent and twisted a little. I was able to get the twist completely out with my forklift, but the rear of the frame is off center with the front by about 1.75 inches. The bend is VERY Gradual. It is a lot harder to get the bend out than the twist. I have tried some different set ups with the front of the Toyota chained to a big truck, with the frame against the back of the forklift, and a chain-hoist attached to the rear of the frame. I have gotten it to bend some, but need some much bigger, stationary objects to do this with, so I may not be able to get the bend out.

I'm wondering what opinions anyone has on what the tolerances may be with bent frames in regards to my rear suspension and axle. I have seen plenty of trucks drive crooked down the road and certainly don't want that to happen. I have thought of going ahead and installing the new hangers, shackles and springs and seeing if I need to off-set anything. A simple spacer to one side in the shackles may do it.

I'm sure someone has done this before.........

there are shops that can fix it for you. they have all the stuff to do it right and it dont cost much.

 

you will not be able to create the forces needed to do effective frame work. commercial frame machines can pull up to 10 tons. frame work is dangerous because of the forces involved and best left to a professional with the proper equipment. a frame shop will have the guages to measure your frame and get it within specs.
