Read the haynes manual and they had a chain wrench to hold the crank pulley in place. A quick visit to the auto parts store yielded new radiator hoses, belts and the $20 chain wrench. Made the job easy, got that thing off in no time. I've got all the new parts in place. Now I have to wait for work tomorrow to get the parts cleaned up and the cover welded. Hopefully I'll have at least the front cover on tomorrow, if not tuesday.

Well I have it all back together and it runs. Only problem is that I'm not getting any torque -or, not as much as I did-. The only thing I can think of it that when I set the timing w/ the timing light, the mark on the crankshaft pulley was at the 1 on the oil pump tab. I moved it all the way to 0 (where I thought it was supposed to be). Do you think it would make that much difference? I drove it around the neighborhood and it did okay, but when I put the pedal to the metal it didn't respond like it should. It barely made like it was trying to accelerate. Help would be very much appreciated.

Can't remember do you have an r or re? R's are meant to be set around 5 with the disty vacuum advance plugged. Mine's actually up around 8 but I'm up at a higher elevation. Worth a try.

Well, I just set the timing back to 1, It's an RE btw. I get a little more torque, but it does the same thing as before. I forgot to mention that when it is at a lower rpm and you gas it, it makes a puttering sound if that makes any sense. I don't know what to do... I'd hate to take it back apart, but it looks like that's going to be my only choice.
