1) The 4Runner actually DOES have an OBDII port under the dash.
2) That "3.5 gear" is actually the torque converter doing it's thing.

I am probably going to think of more soon

Which makes me come the point of...I wonder if I have heated mirrors when I turn my rear defrost on? Good for the foggy mornings. How would I find out?

Here's a thought: Turn on the rear defrost and see what happens. Do the mirrors get warm...

I know, everyone's a smart-alek...But that was just begging for an answer like that

Well today, I just found out my truck was totalled in Missouri 12 years ago. The odometer was rolled back about 25,000 miles back in 98.

Just DANDY!!!

I deserved it, I never thought of doing that in the dry weather, I am such a dumbass. Thanks for that!

Kind of reminds me of a story, even made a thread for it...https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f5/funny-stories-involving-people-64153/

Wait until you find out that there's a second "little compartment" under that one..., unless you've got rear seat heater/AC unit there.

There is? I'm going to go check on that in a bit. I never noticed a second compartment...

No it's "real." You can lock and unlock the Torque convertor by manipulating the system...such as lightly tapping the brake while under light acceleration in O/D, or pushing in the ECT button, etc. It is kind of strange once you know it's there and start messing with it. Not really a 3.5 gear obviously, but it is an appropriate name for it.

I found out:
The dash cupholders arent good for anything w/out a screw on lid.
The Light in the cargo area sucks and isnt good for anything.
It's actually faster than it feels (proven by me (in our Honda) chasing my wife as she's driving the 4runner)

That was a new one for me too. I went from a 91 runner with rear heat to a 94 with no heat and when I found that little compartment I thought I had something extra special. Then i realized I had no rear heat.

It's in the owner's manual but I never looked that hard but I found out that if you unlock the doors with the remote but don't open any of them the doors lock themselves back up after 30 seconds.

On the subject of heated mirrors;do all the 3rd gens have this feature? I thought the ones that did have a little defrost symbol on the bottom of the mirror. I don't think mine has these but I'll investigate soon.
