Thing you found out AFTER you owned your 4Runner for a while.

1. The center console has that little compartment under the arm rest, I didn't know that was there for about year.

2. The passenger power window switch on the driver's side is NOT suppose to light up.

What else have you found after you owned your 4Runner for a while?

I found that it's possible for a vehicle to have zero mechanical problems even after 8 years of driving it.

I lent my 4Runner to my father-in-law and he activated the switch that prevents the rear window from going up and down. I did not know that switch was there or what is was for...RTFM

I found:
1) The fuel filter is a ROYAL PITA to change.
2) It's not all that hard when you take the little access panel in the passenger side wheel well off.
3) There's a little access panel in the passenger side wheel well!
Yes, I learned them in that order. This is a great board!
4) How to get the rear deck light to work.

I'm sure I'll think of more eventually. I'm sure, too, that I'll learn more as I go. It's an ongoing process.

Then found a McDonalds cup under them!
EEEWWWWW!!!

-after about a week, and ramming the parking brake handle in hard, i crawled under the dash and found the little button that turns out the light...

-when i locked the doors and went to close them while the key was in the ignition, thinking 'oh $@!T' as the door slammed.. and then they unlocked again.. phew

-about 4 months after owning it.. hey! theres a light at the back of the cargo area.. sweet, week later it stopped working. WTF!

theres lots.. 4runners were way ahead of their time. and still are.

After 5 years I just found out it had heated mirrors when the rear window defrost is on.

I don't use them that much, being in Albuquerque, but cool none the less.

The warning alarm that goes off when the headlights are left on is pretty cool.
