Yes you are that good, and thanks for all your help.

I just bought the '95 4runner over the weekend, after I delivered my '99 tacoma to my son in New Jersey. I'm in Illinois. I've ordered the Haynes manual but it hasn't arrived yet.

Looking at your diagram it looks like I can remove the mast from the automatic antenna and replace it with the whip mast part # is 86309-32011. That seems too easy to be right. The thread that was referred to earlier had instructions for removing the antenna motor and replacing with a new lower mast section (?). Is that unnecessary?

Thanks again for all your help.

Ah, good question. I can't answer that with 100% certainty. So I can only presume that's why you'd need the entire assembly. Since it doesn't seem as though any of the parts are interchangeable between the 2 types. They all have different part numbers. Some labeled specifically as for the automatic type antenna, and the other similar parts(for the pull top/whip antenna assembly) having no such labeling. And it looks like you can't buy all of the parts individually. All of them except the lower section that the mast screws into. Which you'll probably need.

Sorry. No such luck it would appear. But it was definitely worth a try though. Plus, we both just learned something new today.
