I've searched but couldn't find anything (I must be using the wrong search terms).

Can I put the differential from a V6 rear axle into a solid front axle? Will all the bolts line up and the axles fit? I have the parts to do the swap, but I need to disassemble and clean everything first.

I know the gearing will be different. I'll address that at a later date.

edit: Turns out that you can swap the two diffs. Now to find another V6 diff...

 

Yes, you can.

However, if you plan on using the 85 driveline, you may have to change the flange on the diff.

 

We had the rear diff from a 90 V6 runner in the front of an 85 with no issues
