steering system replacement

i'm replacing the leaking rack on my 98 taco, and i'm wondering if i should just flush my steering pump, or run out and get a new one. i know there are contaminates in the pump as i have changed the fluid numerous times hoping the leak in my rack would somehow go away or slow down. i got a rebuilt rack on ebay, and i'm debating whether to put it on quite yet... any help appreciated!
