Starting A Vehicle That's Sat For A While?
So my Toyota hasn't be running in about 4-5 months. Sort of in a field deal .
Anyhow this weekend or next I'm gonna fire the bitch up. However I want to know what steps to take to ensure she fires up?
So far I'm going to do the following:
- install new carb (stock one needs to be rebuilt).
- new plugs, cap, rotor and wires.
- oil change.
- drain the gas and put some new stuff in.
What else should I do?

Toyota has the same problem but I don't think the fackers are in there anymore.
I've got a battery sitting around that I'm gonna use.

One thing I did after My 4runner sat for over a year! After I did most of what you mentioned (I made sure of the oil). I used a breaker bar and 19mm (I think) socket and rotated the crank about 5-10 times (without the battery or coil connected) to make sure everything was rotating properly. Then I connected the battery and not the coil and cranked it a couple of times. Again checking if everything was OK, and to get a little oil flowing. Then it was go time, and it cranked right up. I was probably being anal, but I was nervous.
Be sure to check air filter also.

Fuel filters can clog while sitting also because of the gas going bad. I'd drain the fuel lines while putting on the new carb & ad some fuel treatment with the new gas.
Four or five months isn't really all that long to have sat though. If it was a year or more I'd worry about the gas & oil, or if the vehicle was sitting through sub zero temps. My two Dodges sit for over a year & I just put in some fuel stabilizer before parking them. I go out once a year & start them up & circulate the transmission fluid.

No spark, hell no power at all.
Battery cables look pretty bad so I'm going to replace them.
I want to rewire the whole truck for my new dash so maybe I start that sooner lol.
